How to Set Up Access Point with Wireless Router

Here's how to Setup Access Point with wireless router can be done with ease using the quick steps given below. Before configuring your access point (AP), choose how you wish to connect it to the router. You can configure it as a Wireless Access Point or as a Wireless Repeater.

Wireless Access Point Cable Setup:

• First, you have to connect the Access Point to your router using a standard Ethernet cable.
• The Ethernet cable from the router should be connected to the AP’s Internet port (WAN).
• Next, connect the AP to a Windows computer using another Ethernet cable.
• The second Ethernet cable should be connected between the AP’s LAN port and the computer’s network port.
• Once connected, turn on the router and the AP after connecting the respective power cords to the electrical outlets.
• Next, configure the Wireless Access Point.

Steps to configure Linksys Wireless Access Point:

• Verify whether you have properly connected the AP to the computer.
• Open the default browser and enter the default IP address of the AP in the URL field.
• Press the Enter key to access the AP’s web-based setup page.
• On the login portal, enter admin in the User name and Password fields.

• Enter a network name for your access point in the Network Name (SSID) field.
• Select Enabled in the SSID Broadcast drop-down menu.
• Next, click the Wireless Security tab and choose your Security Mode.
