Almost all the Dell printers are designed to perform high-speed print jobs and come with an efficient document management feature. This page explains how to perform the setup steps for Dell network printer for the first time.Usually, the steps to set up printers can vary a little bit based on the printer model. However, the overall setup process remains the same. The common steps to perform the Dell network printer setup are given below.
UNPACK YOUR PRINTER
- Initially, unpack the Dell printer if you’re going to set up the printer for the first time.
- Open the product box and take out the printer and its components, such as the power cord, Ethernet cable, USB cable, setup disc, user guide & other important documents.
- Make sure to unpack the printer completely if you haven’t unpacked the printer yet.
- Gently remove the packing tapes from the paper tray, scanner glass, and other important parts of the printer.
- Place the unpacked printer on a clean surface and continue with the next step of the setup.
LOADING PAPER
- Pull out your printer’s paper tray.
- Open the output tray.
- Now, you have to align the tray’s width guides based on the paper type you’re about to load.
- Load a stack of recommended paper in the tray correctly. Make sure not to overload the tray.
- Adjust the paper width guides according to the size of the loaded paper and push the tray towards the Dell Network Printer Setup.
CONNECT THE NECESSARY CABLES
- Get the Fax line and connect your printer to the telephone wall outlet if you wish to use the printer to send and receive fax.
- For Ethernet connection: Use the supplied Ethernet cable to connect the printer to your wireless router or access point.
- For wireless connection: Disconnect the cable except the Fax line from the printer if connected. Connect the Dell printer to your wireless network using the printer’s operational panel or the WPS method.
- Make sure to connect the cables securely at both ends.
CONNECTING THE DELL PRINTER TO WI-FI USING ITS CONTROL PANEL
- Choose the Admin option from the Menu list.
- Select Network > Wireless Setup.
- Turn on your wireless router if it is turned off.
- Now, your printer will display the list of wireless networks available within its range.
- Select your wireless network’s SSID from the list. Type the selected network’s password in the given field and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your Dell Network printer Setup to the wireless network.
TURN ON YOUR DELL NETWORK PRINTER
- Get your printer’s power cable.
- Connect the small end of the cable to your printer and the big end to the power outlet.
- Press the On/Off switch on your printer.
- When your printer turns on for the first time, you can see the Initial Setup Wizard on the screen.
- Configure the initial printer setup by following the on-screen instructions.
INSTALL THE PRINTER DRIVER
- Insert the Dell network printer’s setup CD into your computer. If your computer doesn’t have a disc slot, then download the printer driver from the printer’s official support page, and open it.
- When prompted, choose your Dell printer and the connection type.
- Click the Install button.
- Once the printer driver is installed the following window will be displayed on the screen.
- Click on Finish to close the driver installation wizard.
